Google Philippines will be hosting a free webinar for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) as well as aspiring entrepreneurs who wish to start their own business. At “MSME Caravan: Digitalizing and Supporting Local Businesses”, panelists will discuss insights, tips and digital strategies for business aspirants.

“Earlier this year, we launched MSME Caravan to train more small businesses nationwide so they can strengthen their presence online and maximize the benefits of the growing digital economy,” says Mervin Wenke, Google Philippines head of communications and public affairs.

According to the United Nations Development Programme, MSMEs compose 99.5 percent of businesses in the Philippines and employ about 63 percent of the workforce. Forty percent of the country’s gross domestic product is generated by MSMEs during the previous years—but this has already declined by 16.5 percent due to the pandemic. Small businesses contribute the most to the nation’s economy and yet they’re the ones struggling.

Entrepreneurs to be featured in the webinar include Reese Fernandez-Ruiz of Rags2Riches and Chelsea Quiambao of Le Fleur Café. They will talk about building an entrepreneurial mindset. Meanwhile, MSMEs Dalareich Chocolate House from Bohol, White Beard Coffee from Siargao and Kanami Supplies from Quezon City will share how they started and how the pandemic shaped their businesses.

Content creator Madam Ely will lay down the opportunities for MSMEs on YouTube. Google leaders will also delve deep into strategies on starting a business and building an effective online presence. The event will be moderated by motivational speaker and TV host John Aguilar.

The webinar will be streamed live on Oct. 22 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. through Google Philippine’s Facebook page and YouTube channel.
