Doubling down on their long-term bid for sustainability, Starbucks has just released a set of colored reusable cups.

A follow-up to the coffee giant’s line of reusable cups unveiled last April in celebration of Earth Day, these new cold cups are exclusive to the Philippines and come in four hues—namely purple, pastel-pink, orange, and blue. Each cup includes a reusable 20-centimeter straw.

This release is part of Starbucks’ continued efforts to achieve a sustainable, eco-friendly business model. In July 2018, the company announced its plan to phase out plastic straws from all 28,000 locations by 2020.

The shift towards environmental consciousness comes in response to the increasing number of consumers and organizations urging establishments to cut down on plastic waste production. A factsheet by the Earth Day Network reports that half a trillion plastic cups are used up annually, a number of which may add up to the eight million metric tons of plastic waste found in oceans every year.

As the industry gears itself for radical changes for the sake of a greener future, the coffee company joins one of the many brands adopting sustainable practices.

Starbucks’ new colored collection of cups is not merely a sign of the company’s ongoing commitment to sustainability but is also a tie-in for their end-of-summer beverages.

For a limited time only, branches will be serving four new blended drinks: Double Ristretto Blended Cream, White Chocolate Matcha Cream, Frozen Mango Hibiscus Tea with Pomegranate Pearls, and White Mocha Coffee Sphere Frappuccino.

These drinks are available in all stores starting Jul. 23, 2019, alongside the colored cups, which retails at 100 pesos per piece.
