The Bar at The Peninsula Manila landed on this year’s Forbes Travel Guide list of the Top 44 best hotel bars in the world. It’s the sole entry from the Philippines and is one of only four Southeast Asian hotel bars (two from Indonesia and one from Singapore).

Forbes evaluates hotel bars all over the world based on up to 900 standards and are curated by anonymous travel correspondents. Included in the criteria are luxury standards (seen in the bar’s comfort, choices, and conveniences) and the service, presentation, and composition of the beverage program. The overall bar experience must also incorporate top-notch food that goes well with the beverage menu.

Described by Forbes as “bedecked in checkered flooring and wood walls, the bar gleans inspiration from an old Cuban cigar factory.” The Bar’s food choices like pork sisig croquetas and sriracha butter duck wings plus a kapeng barako-infused cocktail, Batangas Old-Fashioned, were also featured.

The Peninsula Manila’s The Bar is located on the corner of Ayala and Makati Avenues in Makati City, Metro Manila.
